Mel has been awarded the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS®) designation by the Council of Residential Specialists. The Council is affiliated with the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. The CRS® designation is the highest professional designation awarded to Realtors in the field of residential real estate. Fewer than 5 percent of all Realtors hold the CRS designation.

Mel has been awarded the Accredited Buyer Representation (ABR®) designation by the Real Estate Buyer's Council (REBAC) of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. The ABR® designation, the benchmark of excellence in buyer agency service, demonstrates to clients that an agent has taken steps to continue their education in the field of buyer representation, and has the proven experience and training to deliver ethical and professional service to real estate buyers. Mel offers FREE buyer representation and has helped many folks relocate to the Columbia area.

Mel has also completed the At Home With Diversity: One America certification program (May 1999). The National Association of Realtors and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development created this program to expand home ownership opportunities for all Americans by training Real Estate professionals to actively seek out and assist homebuyers from all cultural backgrounds. The program that Mel attended, consisting of six modules and a test, was the first At Home With Diversity: One America class taught in South Carolina.

Mel has been awarded the GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute) designation by the South Carolina Association of Realtors. The nationally recognized GRI designation indicates completion of over 100 hours of real estate instruction with emphasis on topics such as professional standards, construction and new home sales, appraisal, and legal liabilities. This program is certified and approved by the Education Division of the National Association of Realtors.

For Real Estate sellers, Mel utilizes a wide ranging marketing package to help SELL property quickly and at the best possible price. Specifically, Mel's Total Marketing Plan includes a digitized photo tour that is linked from his FOUR Internet web sites, "Talking House" technology, professional quality brochures and brochure book, Internet newsletter, local newspaper and magazine advertising and more. This is in addition to listing on the Multiple Listing Service.

BETHANY WAY joined the Mel Coker Real Estate Team in November 2004. Bethany graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2004 with a B.S. in Business Management. She obtained her S.C. real estate license in July 2004. Bethany assists with all aspects of Mel's real estate business including listings, real estate showings and client follow-up.
