Cancun is a world-renowned tourist destination on Mexico's Yucatan. The city center is on the mainland with a population of about 580,000. The Hotel Zone of Cancún is shaped like a 7 with bridges on each end connecting to the mainland. This is the place where almost all tourists stay. Cancún is also the gateway to the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres and the Riviera Maya, including Playa del Carmen and Tulum. There are plenty of things to see and do in this region, including: Numerous archaeological sites, such as Chichen Itza, Cobá and Tulum, the many cenotes, charming towns and parks such as Xcaret and Xel-Ha. We feel the water color is as beautiful in Cancun as any place we have seen in the Caribbean!
